A book lives inside a World and automatically shares that World's cast and look. Starting one is a short form.

What you choose
- A title (and subtitle). What the book is called. You can change this later.
- A structure. Choose simple for one flowing story, or chaptered to group pages into chapters. Simple suits most picture books. Chaptered helps when a longer story wants sections.
- A reading age. A band that fits your audience: 2 to 4, 3 to 6, 5 to 8, or 7 to 10. This gently guides the feel of the book.
- A page shape (the Form). The shape of every page in the book, for example square or portrait. This one is worth a moment of thought, so it has its own article: choosing your page shape.
What happens next
Once the book exists, you open it and begin adding pages: your words on the left, the illustration built for you. Because the book sits inside your World, your characters and style are already loaded and waiting. You can jump straight into writing and illustrating pages.
